Preparation Methods & Dosage:

To make sorrel tea, boil the water first, then add the sorrel blend, and allow to steep for several hours. Strain and sweeten to taste. We recommend a large batch and refrigerate it for later enjoyment.  For small batch brewing, measure 2 tsp per 8 oz. Double the amounts for the quantity desired.

Steps:

  1. Bring 2 liters (roughly 32-35 oz) of water to a boil in a large pot.
  2. Add 10 tablespoons of the sorrel blend. You may add all the ingredients loose in the water or place them in a large reusable or disposable tea filter.
  3. Boil until the hibiscus leaves begin to plump.
  4. Remove from heat and let steep for several hours or overnight.
  5. If the ingredients were loose, then strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a pitcher. If you used a tea filter, remove the filter from the beverage.
  6. You won't need much sweetener, but if you choose to add it, you may sweeten to taste with maple syrup, sugar in the raw, honey, or agave nectar.  We recommend maple syrup.
  7. Serve over ice or drink warm.
